Guardian is Brew’s built-in system that helps ensure your emails are delivered to the inbox and comply with email marketing best practices. It automatically checks your emails for common issues and provides suggestions for improvement.

How Guardian Works

Guardian automatically scans your emails and provides a score based on:
  • Deliverability factors - Spam triggers, image-to-text ratio, and link placement
  • Compliance checks - Required elements like unsubscribe links and company information
  • Mobile optimization - Responsive design and mobile-friendly formatting
  • Performance - Loading speed and accessibility

Guardian Score

Guardian provides a score from 0-100 for each email:
  • 90-100: Excellent - Ready to send
  • 70-89: Good - Minor improvements suggested
  • 50-69: Fair - Several issues to address
  • 0-49: Poor - Significant problems need fixing

Common Issues and Fixes

Issue: Emails must include an unsubscribe link to comply with email marketing laws. Fix: Guardian can automatically add unsubscribe links to your emails.

Poor Image-to-Text Ratio

Issue: Too many images or too little text can trigger spam filters. Fix: Add more text content or reduce the number of images.

Spam Trigger Words

Issue: Certain words and phrases can trigger spam filters. Fix: Guardian highlights problematic language and suggests alternatives.

Mobile Display Issues

Issue: Emails that don’t display properly on mobile devices. Fix: Guardian checks responsive design and suggests mobile optimizations.

Using Guardian

  1. Create your email - Build your email content as usual
  2. Check Guardian score - View the score in the editor sidebar
  3. Review suggestions - Read Guardian’s recommendations
  4. Make improvements - Address the suggested issues
  5. Re-scan - Check your score again after making changes

  • Check scores regularly - Monitor Guardian scores for all your emails
  • Address warnings promptly - Fix issues before they become critical
