# Brew MCP 2.0: Tools Built Around Tasks

> Brew's MCP server reorganized around the jobs agents do. Fewer, broader tools replace one tool per API call, so an assistant picks the right one first.

## What Shipped

[Brew MCP 1.0](/changelog/posts/mcp-oauth) mirrored the API, one tool per
call. Asking "how did last week's send do?" meant choosing between four
analytics tools before the assistant could answer.

Brew MCP 2.0 reorganized the server around the jobs agents actually do. The
catalog went from 89 tools to 79.

Each tool covers a task, such as reading a send's results. Options replace
what used to be separate tools.

## Fewer Tools, Each With One Job

| Job | In 1.0 | In 2.0 |
| - | - | - |
| Read email performance | `get_send`, `list_sends`, `get_event_analytics`, `get_analytics_overview` | `get_email_analytics`, with a report kind |
| Bring in an existing design | `import_email_design`, `import_figma_design` | `import_email`, for source or a Figma frame |
| Create or edit a trigger | `create_trigger`, `update_trigger` | `save_trigger` |
| Delete contacts | `delete_contact`, `batch_delete_contacts` | `delete_contacts`, with a list |
| Read automation runs | `get_automation_run`, `get_audience_run`, `list_audience_runs` | `list_automation_runs` |

Design tools dropped the extra word: `create_email_design` became
`create_email`, and `edit_email_with_ai` became `edit_email`.

## For Agents Already Connected

Tool names changed, so prompts or scripts that named 1.0 tools needed new
names. `get_brew_capabilities` lists the live catalog, so an agent that calls
it first finds the right tool on its own.
